Nantgaredig Community Band Carmartheshire Amateur Orchestra

 

We are a local orchestra which encourages musicians of all ages and skills to enjoy their art in a relaxed, social atmosphere. We perform at charity events and local schools' workshops.

 

The band was orginally formed in April 1998 and is based at Pontargothi Memorial Hall,  approximatley six miles east of Carmarthen in the beautiful Tywi valley.

 

We are particularly keen to encourage adults and children who are learning to play, and adults who want to revive the skills learned in their youth. Age is no barrier: a willingness to have a go and join in is all we ask - although primary school-aged children are best accompanied by a parent or older sibling.

 

In fact, some of our members first joined because their children were keen to play - and have stayed on long after those children have flown the nest. (best of all, these 'children' often help us out when visiting home).

 

Although our main aim is to enjoy playing music of all kinds, just as importantly the 'Band' supports various fund raising activities in the Carmarthen area - from carol services to garden fetes - and we are proud of this contribution the 'Band' makes to the community.
